About This Place

Nestled in the charming neighborhood of San Ángel, Cluny is a distinctive French restaurant and creperie that beautifully blends authentic French flavors with a cozy, intimate atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, the white tablecloths and warm lighting create an inviting space perfect for romantic dinners or special occasions. This is the kind of place where every detail—from service to presentation—has been thoughtfully crafted to transport you to a classic Parisian bistro.

Cluny’s menu is a celebration of French culinary artistry, featuring a rich selection of savory and sweet crepes alongside beloved traditional dishes. The Sopa de Cebolla, a timeless house specialty since 1974, offers a deeply comforting, caramelized onion broth topped with melted cheese—a perfect starter that sets the stage for the meal ahead. For those who crave heartier fare, the Boeuf Bourguignon stands out as a tender, slow-cooked masterpiece that brings quintessential French flavors to your plate.

The crepes here are truly the star attraction. Whether you choose the Crepa de Carne A la Criolla for a savory delight or indulge your sweet tooth with the Crepa Nutella con Fresas, accompanied by vanilla ice cream, each bite is a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. There’s also the Crepa Cajeta y Nuez, a house favorite with its rich, envinada cajeta that irresistibly complements the crunchy nuts. Beyond crepes, adventurous diners will appreciate offerings like the Filete Dijon and the elegantly prepared Filete Wellington, each executed with a precise balance of seasoning and flair.

The dining experience at Cluny is further enhanced by attentive, knowledgeable staff who make you feel not just welcomed but genuinely cared for. Guests often praise the helpful recommendations and attentive service, which, combined with a curated wine selection, elevate each visit to an occasion. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, typically adorned in soft lighting that creates a relaxed yet sophisticated mood, perfect for couples or quiet gatherings.

While some have noted that desserts might not be quite as remarkable as the rest of the meal, the overall experience more than compensates—Cluny’s desserts such as the Crème Brûlée and Mousse de Chocolate offer sweet, satisfying conclusions without overshadowing the main event.

Cluny also offers thoughtfully designed combos perfect for both solo diners and couples, allowing guests to enjoy a well-rounded exploration of their favorites—from their revered Sopa de Cebolla and crepes to their signature Le Hamburger de Cluny. This pairing of quality and quantity makes it an excellent choice for those seeking both flavor and value in Mexico City’s bustling culinary scene.

In summary, if you’re looking to savor genuine French cuisine in a setting that feels like a lovingly preserved secret, Cluny in San Ángel is a must-visit. The harmony of flavors, the comfortable yet elegant environment, and the genuine warmth of the staff come together to create a memorable dining experience that lingers long after the last bite.

This place was wonderful! Classy intimate atmosphere with white tablecloths. The food was delicious and I wouldn’t say it was any more expensive than any of the other places we went to on our trip, but it still felt like a special place. My partner got the salad bar and mussels and I got the squash soup and bistro salad. All was delicious. The staff was very helpful and spoke English, which was helpful for us folks who barely know any Spanish words beyond 1,2,3…five stars!

Amazing food! Amazing service! So cozy! Perfect for couples. Waiters are super helpful and willing to recommend if you’re looking for something in particular, they know what they’re talking about. The only slight downside is the dessert was very average compared to the rest.m, but it was an amazing experience!

The place is cozy, a bit dark but good atmosphere overall. Fast and friendly service. Good wine selection. The dishes are varied, the menu has more than only crepes. Always crowded.

Haven’t been back to this place in almost 15 years. Loved the atmosphere and the plaza where is located. Unfortunately the Monsieur crepe which I used to love, wasn’t as good. A bit dry.
